Visa Waiver Program Citizens of designated countries may enter the United States on holiday or for some business purposes for up to 90 days without a visa under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). The designated countries are as follows: United Kingdom, Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium Brunei, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Republic of Korea, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
Travelling on the VWP is not permitted for those who intend to study, work or stay more than 90 days nor is it permitted for persons who have been arrested or convicted of any offence. From 12 January 2009, all visitors to the US using the Visa Waiver Program must obtain an electronic travel authorisation under the Electronic System for Travel Authorization.
